Noah Kahan fans sure love their vinyl.
Billboard reports that the "Stick Season" artist had both the bestselling album and the bestselling single of 2024 Record Store Day, held in April. The event's top-selling single was Kahan's split 7-inch with Olivia Rodrigo, featuring the pair's covers of each other's song, recorded during performances on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge. Kahan covers "Lacy," while Olivia sings "Stick Season."
Meanwhile, the top-selling album was a blue vinyl pressing of Kahan's 2021 album, I Was/I Am.
Other 2024 RSD bestsellers included albums by Paramore, Pearl Jam, The 1975, Talking Heads, Fleetwood Mac and David Bowie. Bestselling singles included Paramore's split with David Byrne as well as releases by U2, Daft Punk and The Beatles.

Olivia Rodrigo just learned the hard way that playing in a brand-new concert venue can have its challenges.
Olivia's GUTS World Tour was scheduled to play the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England on May 3. But the brand-new venue, which was scheduled to open on April 23, missed that date due to power supply issues. Multiple shows have been rescheduled, and then, the new opening date of May 1 was also postponed.
Now, Olivia's written on her Instagram Story, "hello! I've been having such a great time in Europe so far and I'm sooooo disappointed that we're unable to perform in Manchester due to on-going venue-related technical issues. we're doing our best to reschedule the show."
After telling fans to hold onto their tickets or request a refund, she added, "im so bummed and I really hope to see you all soon."
Harry Styles, who grew up about half-an-hour away from the arena, is among its many investors.

On May 1, American Idol season two winner Ruben Studdard and runner-up Clay Aiken were revealed as "The Beets" on FOX's The Masked Singer. But even though they had to wear crazy costumes that limited their movements, the two told Billboard that competing on Idol was much scarier.
"The interesting thing about Idol for me was obviously it was scary every week because you’re worried you’re going to go home because there’s stakes involved and it’s your life and your career," Clay explained. "On Masked Singer, we didn’t have that concern at all. We came off tour to do it and went back on tour after it and we came on knowing we were going to have fun and goof off and enjoy ourselves."
But he also noted, "I never worried about falling off stage on Idol. I was definitely worried about it every time we performed on this show."
Clay said he and Ruben had talked about being on the show over the years, but it wasn't until they went on the road together that he thinks the producers figured, "'[They're] on tour together, but people might not think of them as a duo, so that might be a way to trick the audience,' so it worked out perfectly for us."'
Asked if they were upset about leaving the show after only a few weeks, Ruben said, "I was disappointed to leave… I want to win everything. I don’t care if it’s marbles or jumping jacks — and I know I can’t do that many — but I want to win."

Dua Lipa is a global pop superstar and says the criticism she got early in her career "fueled" her into showing people they were wrong about her.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Dua says, "There can be a moment where people really love you and you feel so supported and you're like, 'Oh, this is great.' Especially in the beginning. I was doing interviews and people were like, 'How do you deal with hate?' And I'm like, 'I don't get any hate. It's great.' And then that changed really quickly."
"I remember even when it was Grammy's Best New Artist nomination and I'd won it and there was people online being like, 'She's not deserving of it. She's got no stage presence. She can't do this ... she won't be here next year.' There was a lot of that. That fueled me in a way."
She says, "Every time someone has doubted me, I've proved them wrong. ... This is pushing me to be better, to work hard. And I get a real kick out of proving people wrong."
Dua also discusses what she's learned about relationships over the past few years.
"You learn about your own nonnegotiables. I think that's an important thing," she tells Lowe. "It's of course the right person, but it's really about the right relationship. What are you willing to give up? ... Maybe you have an ick or something, or you see that someone is disloyal. I'm like, 'That's a nonnegotiable.'"
"I want someone who's loyal and open and honest, and that's what I'm willing to be as well in return," she adds. "You figure out what those things are for you."

Olivia Rodrigo might just be in lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-lo-love. At the Tuesday, April 30, performance of her Guts World Tour in Dublin, Ireland, Olivia changed a lyric in her song "so american." Many fans took this as a nod to her boyfriend, Louis Partridge, who was in the crowd. Olivia changed “I don’t wanna assume this stuff/ But ain’t it love?/ Think I’m in love” to end with “‘Cause I’m in love” instead.

Noah Kahan released a vinyl version of his 2020 EP Cape Elizabeth for Record Store Day last year. This year, he's marking the EP's four-year anniversary with a post about the record that he says "woke me up."
"Cape Elizabeth isn't just an EP to me," he writes on his Instagram Story. "It's a line in the sand that I have never stepped over again. Music is supposed to be fun. Music isn't supposed to make you bored and depressed and jealous and angry. It should be the same thing it was to you as a kid; a magic trick that makes you and the listener understand each other and yourselves."
"Cape Elizabeth was the first time in so long I felt like a kid again," he continues. "When you guys accepted this EP with open arms it genuinely rearranged the cells in my brain and completely changed my life. I remembered something. I try to never forget it."
Noah recorded Cape Elizabeth during the pandemic, and it was an acoustic, folk-influenced project, unlike his 2021 album I Was/I Am, which he's said was more influenced by what his record label wanted from him.
Speaking about the EP, he told Variety last year, "It was the first time that I let myself just not care about how it sounded at the end ... I just wanted it to make me happy. And to see it connect with people really inspired me to write Stick Season. It kind of gave me the confidence to be like, 'All right, this niche-specific storytelling stuff can actually connect with people in a more universal way.'”
"I really owe it all to that EP, and it’s still probably my favorite piece of work I’ve made. I just love it."

Katy Perry is supportive of her fiancé Orlando Bloom's new show, To the Edge, in which he participates in death-defying activities like skydiving and rock climbing. She just wishes he'd be as disciplined when it comes to keeping the house tidy.
Katy posted photos of herself and Orlando, along with video clips of the crazy stunts he does in the show. She captioned the post, "In a world of AI/deepfakin/green-screenin/vfxing/stunt doublin etc etc my hero baby daddy @orlandobloom does it all and FOR REAL. If you haven’t seen #OnTheEdge [sic] on @peacock yet, buckle up and grab a ginger ale (like I did!) and stream it now…"
The caption continues with a note addressed directly to Orlando, asking him to "check slide nine." That slide is a photo of a pair of socks resting on what looks like a clothing hook.
"(CAN YOU PLEASE PUT YOUR SOCKS AWAY IN THE RIGHT PLACE FOR ONCE AND THEN FINALLY I WILL BE IMPRESSED)," Katy writes in all caps. "(I DONT NEED YOU TO CLIMB MOUNT EVEREST OK)."

It may be hard to imagine that Dua Lipa has time to read, given all that she's doing to promote her new album, Radical Optimism, but she's officially announced the May pick for her Service95 Book Club.
The book is Swimming in the Dark by Tomasz Jedrowski, about two young men who fall in love in Communist Poland in the '80s, when such relationships were forbidden. Dua describes it as a "beautiful coming-of-age love story" that's "poetic and tender," yet "burning with a quiet rage at the persecution the LGBTQ+ community in Poland has suffered for decades and continues to fight against today."
As part of this month's Book Club content, Dua's done a Q&A with Tomasz. For context, you can read an article about LGBTQ rights in Poland; Tomasz has also contributed a reading list and a playlist of songs he listened to while writing the book.

Lenny Kravitz recently went viral with an Instagram post that showed him lifting weights in boots and leather pants. While you may have thought he was doing it just for the social media post, it turns out that's actually his normal workout attire.
"I'm always working out in leather pants or jeans and boots and whatever — if I'm not doing cardio," Kravitz tells Variety. "If I'm doing cardio, obviously I'm going to wear sweats because I'm going to be sweating all over the place. But if I'm lifting weights, I don't sweat so much."
As for why he wears leather for his workout, it seems Kravitz doesn’t see the point in wasting time changing.
"I'm coming from somewhere or I'm going somewhere. And I just don't care. I'm gonna pop in, I've got 45 minutes, we're gonna hit it and I'm gonna go run to where I'm going,” the 59-year-old rocker says. “So I don't do it for effect. I didn't do that to be like, 'Oh, let me be just so different and wear leather pants and glasses.' No, it's just me walking in off the street.”
As for critics who blasted his choice of gym wear, Kravitz doesn’t pay them any attention.
“I know what I'm doing. And my trainer knows what he's doing. And I know my body and what my body does and what it can do and how it feels and it's all good,” he says. “I trained with elite athletes, I trained with football players, NFL and NBA stars. I trained with MLB stars, wrestlers, boxers. I've played with them all. I won't mention names, but they're all people you would know. And they'll tell you I train very seriously."
